I had a moment to ask Håkan about it after he left the stage, and he confirmed that it was a significant challenge but was confident that they couldn’t set their goal anywhere else. I wasn’t aware of it at the time, but I learned later that this had been Volvo’s goal since 2008. As the closing keynote, he said “our mission is that by 2020 no one will be killed or seriously injured in a Volvo.” He called this their Vision 2020.
